We are looking for professionals to join our indirect tax advisory area. The successful applicants will use business, finance and commercial skills to evaluate our client’s data.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with providing indirect tax and national state taxes advice, compliance and consultancy services across a range of indirect tax matters, including GST, stamp duty/duties, land tax, fuel tax credits, customs and state taxes
  • Assist with ATO assurance reviews and audits
  • Assist in delivering a range of tax governance, data analytics and tax technology services
  • Research of relevant case law, legislation and revenue authority guidance
  • Being an alternative contact for a number of clients
  • Assist with managing billing and control of Work In Progress, adhering to budget and time constraints
  • Assist with assessing engagement risk and apply commercial astute decisions, including the maintenance of quality control on assignments and projects
  • Assist with analysing clients’ needs and professional service requirements and determine appropriate action
  • Manage relationships with existing clients and identify opportunities with current clients
  • Assist with delivering in-house tax technical training on indirect tax / state taxes issues
  • Management of junior team members, offering guidance and direction on delegated engagements

To be successful you will need:

  • Business / Commerce degree with Accounting Major or Law degree
  • Tax experience in a similar role
  • Strong communication and written skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Transferrable indirect tax / state tax experience
  • Strong work ethic

Desirable

  • Commencement or near completion of CA or equivalent
  • Commencement or near completion of Master of Taxation or Master of Laws (in Taxation) or Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) [The Tax Institute]
  • Commencement or near completion of Practical Legal Training (PLT) course.
  • Admitted as a Solicitor or working towards admission.
